Write the story of What’s Next

Helping leaders get their story ready for what’s next

Your leadership journey doesn't end with your last role — it evolves. Whether you're stepping onto a board, preparing for a leadership transition, or building your influence in a changing business world, your story needs to evolve too.

Through the Next Chapter Project, I help leaders connect where they've been to where they're going — through clear, credible storytelling designed to open doors and build trust. Together, we'll write the next chapter of your leadership journey.

Starting points

Every leadership story is different.

Here are a few places we might start — depending on what you’re thinking about right now.

  • Are you telling the right story for the boardroom — one that reflects who you are today and where you want to lead next?

Does your resume translate your executive experience into the language boards trust and understand?

  • When people look you up, does your profile (and what you share) show the leader you want them to see?

  • Can you explain — simply and clearly — what sets you apart and why it matters now?

  • Are you sharing insights that strengthen your voice and open doors with the right audience?

  • Not sure where to start? Would it help to step back and map out the story you want people to see next?

Meet Jon Marcin

Through the Next Chapter Project, I help leaders step into what's next by reflecting on where they’ve been, reconnecting their story to where leadership is heading, and reframing how they show up for new opportunities.

I draw on 20 years in professional services at PwC and EY, where I helped executives build meaningful visibility, strengthen relationships, and navigate leadership transitions. My background in journalism taught me to listen first, ask better questions, and surface the story that already lives inside your work.

  • Experience that’s rooted in helping leaders move forward

Before starting Next Chapter, I spent 20 years inside professional services, including time on EY’s Global Business Development Leadership Team.

There, I helped craft messaging that put clients — not services — at the center. We reshaped how the firm showed up in the market, brought LinkedIn into the business development toolkit, and found new ways to build trust and relationships online and offline.

I also led the rollout of EY’s first generative AI tool — an experience that showed me how quickly leadership narratives must adapt to stay credible in a fast-changing world.

One client once called me her “personal marketing and communications director.”
I took that as a compliment — and a responsibility.

Whether it’s sharpening your brand, building your presence, or helping you understand how AI fits into your leadership story, my goal is always simple:

Take what’s complex, and make it clear, credible, and aligned with where you want to go next.

Who I work with:

  • Aspiring and active board directors

  • Leaders moving into new roles

  • Client-facing leaders growing influence in competitive markets

What I believe:

  • Every leader has a story worth telling.

  • Good writing doesn’t just reflect where you’ve been — it creates space for where you're going.

  • Storytelling is a leadership skill, not a marketing tool.

  • Your next chapter should be shaped by clarity, not noise.
